Let me introduce you to Just Good Friends. JGF is a charity which was established 8 years ago in 2012 and whose primary aim is to combat loneliness and isolation. JGF is passionate about changing lives by changing loneliness and isolation to happiness and inclusion.

Just Good Friends Lytham St Annes

We have a lovely happy team of volunteers working hard behind the scenes to ensure everyone is kept safe and secure.

We are based in St Anne’s but anyone from outside the area is welcome. We have members from all across the Fylde and even have online members from as far afield as Barrowford and beyond.

Under ‘normal’ circumstances we meet 6 days a week at various venues in St Anne’s, with a wide and varied range of activities including dance lessons, quizzes, speakers, bingo, games, party nights. Sometimes members come along to meet friends just for a coffee and chat and meet up for our lovely Sunday dinners at the St Ives Hotel.

Whether people come to meet a friend or come by themselves, no-one is ever alone as the Just Good Friends team are always around to meet and greet them.

Due to the current Covid situation we have had to change the way we work. We are currently keeping in contact with our members by telephone, WhatsApp, and Zoom and through the social media apps. Everyone has the opportunity to talk and interact with one another as a group or one-to-one. Once the lockdown situation is finally over and when are allowed to, we will restart our outdoor meet ups in both Ashton and Lowther Gardens.

Just Good Friends also have a social group for young people aged 11 to 17 called Social Angels which is run by a lovely young girl called Abbie. The SA group is designed for youths on the autistic spectrum and/or youths struggling with confidence, low self-esteem or social isolation and who would benefit from making friends and enjoying new opportunities. Currently some members of the group are enjoying online zoom Art Classes with ArtSocial.

I and all the members of JGF would like to take this opportunity to thank all the local services/organisations who work in partnership with us to support our mission to make sure no one feels alone – we always make sure that we thank them for their support through our media. Also, to thank the many local businesses JGF are supported by – again, take a look at our media to see the lovely businesses that have been kind enough to help.

Working together in partnership is the key to bringing the community together in friendship.

Cheers until we see you again
