Rise Against Hunger is an international relief organization that distributes food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable, mobilizing the necessary resources to end hunger by 2030
Support to this cause is a major project for Rotary Lytham and one that became very close to Peter Woodhead’s heart when he took part in the meal packing event last year with Grange Over Sands Rotary Club. The funds raised by Rotary buy raw ingredients including Rice, lentils, soya and vitamins which are then packed by volunteers into ‘meal packs’ before being put in containers & shipped to their final destination. Rotary Lytham & Peter have already raised funds and sponsorship for this year, in fact enough for 30,000 meals, but Peter’s goal was for 50,000.

Peter a Bank Manager and a Rotary stalwart sadly passed away last month, his daughter Liz is the vice chair member of the ‘associate’group Totally Rotary FY8 Group and the newest member of the ‘parent’ Club, hence she decided to involve Totally Rotary FY8 to support this project, that incorporates, in this instance, Education with Food in Africa.
In Liz’s words
The sudden loss of my father has filled myself and our family with the greatest sadness.  He was a great role model, kind ,compassionate and hard working.  In his charitable work in the community from Lytham Rotary to Abbeyfield, he selflessly dedicated his time with great passion and tenacity. He will be missed greatly but his memories will live on and I am very proud that he was my father, he was a true gentleman. I am happy to pick up the ‘baton’ for him and in his memory on this Rise Against Huger project and other Totally Rotary FY8 and Rotary Lytham projects in the future.
Totally Rotary took up the baton and among other fund raising, a friend of the group Bobby Ball along with his good lady wife Yvonne has put together an evening of  ‘old school’ Variety with Comedy & Entertainment  from the irrepressible Cannon & Ball, Johnny Casson, Stu Francis ,local acts & choirs who are all giving their time for free, all you need to do is sit back and enjoy, tickets are available now from Lowther Pavilion Here
Massive thanks to Lytham St Annes Skip Hire and Your Gym as sponsors for the event.
