Why do we LOVE a Christmas Market??

To get us into the Christmas Spirit of course

Well amongst other things

It takes a few years to make a tradition and St Annes on Sea have made a great start.  Ok it will not be as big as Manchester, yet, but you don’t have as far to travel

Why do we all LOVE a Continental Xmas market, the markets originating in the colder central/Northern European countries, such as Germany, Austria  & Hungary.  It’s the sights the sounds and the smells, the atmosphere, happy families, friends, browsing for Xmas gifts eating outdoors at one of the food stalls (trying some form of Sausage LOL) and for us adults, it’s the liquid that ‘warms the cockles of your heart’ ………….gluhwien (or any type of mulled alcohol)

It’s nostalgia for something we have never had, such as snow dusted spires and town squares and rosy cheeked families in Alpine hats and gloves laden with shopping bags full of hand crafted gifts.  It’s the stuff on the front of many a Festive card, Advent Calendar,  and peddled by the big brands and supermarkets with their European foodstuffs. But we don’t care, we lap it up along with the delightful wooden cabins, bright lights and jolly music. The one thing that does resonate is the feeling of community and Christmas Spirit

Coming over all Continental

Thanks the KC Photography for the image

For the second year running over the weekend of December 8th – 11th sees Ashton Gardens go all Continental with a Christmas Market and will see a Winter Wonderland of stalls and cabins (more this year) , with festive lighting to guide you through the food, drink, and gift options available on Ashton Gardens plus across the town there will be Late Night opening, festive windows, seasonal costumes.

Come hungry as there will be at the markets and in town  (example) Pizzas, dips, marinades, arts & crafts, candles, cards, sweet treats, wreaths, beer chalice glasses, driftwood homewares, savoury grazing cups, Scotch eggs, alcohol,  ink art, doughnuts, drink shimmers, gins & rums, baked treats, ceramics and Christmas goods are just a taster of your options.

Some of the lovely people that will be ‘plying their wares, lovely to see that 95% of them are Lytham St Annes/Fylde Coast/Lancashire or North of England

Guess who’ll be Dropping by

Santa is having a cup of hot chocolate, then he’ll need to wipe it off his beard and brush his hair, before he’s ready to see you all again today – 11am-7pm.
Because he’s so busy on the run up to Christmas, Cuffe and Lacey Fostering has agreed to a couple of requests from Santa. He would like £5 to visit him, so that he can pay for carrots for the reindeer fuel in travelling to St Anne’s and that you save the pre-booked slots for people who need them, during the ‘quiet hour’. He’s told us that queueing nicely to see him guarantees your place on the good list, so it’ll be worth the wait.
He is happy for grown-ups to take photos of him in his Grotto, so that you can remember your visit and we believe he is bringing a sack of presents, so that he can give one to each visitor too.
Santa will be in his Grotto on Friday 9th December 11am-7pm, Saturday 10th December 11am-6pm and Sunday 11th December 11am-6pm.
Remember to be Good and get your lists ready as there will be a special post box in the Grotto which the elves will empty and take all that are posted back to the North Pole
*Autism (ASD) Friendly – Santa’s Quiet Hour*
We want everyone to be able to enjoy meeting Santa in his Grotto and appreciate that for some, it can all be a bit too much of a sensory overload. Cuffe and Lacey Fostering has therefore asked Santa for a big favour and because they’ve been good all year, he said that it could be his gift to them. He’s going to come in for 1 hour on Saturday 10th and Sunday 11h December before the STEP into Christmas Market fully opens and do 6 special 10 minute visits, letting the children gently and quietly go through the Grotto to meet him.
He will still need the £5 per visit for his reindeer food, they’ll be a chance to take photos if you wish and every visitor will receive a gift.
These special visits are PRE-BOOK ONLY, so that we can keep things slow and are available between 8:45-9:45 on Saturday and 9:45-10:45 on the Sunday by emailing admin@cuffeandlacey.com with the subject line of ‘Quiet Time Santa’. Slots will be reserved on a first come, first served basis. Feel free to wear a sunflower lanyard so the elves know who to look out for.
