Lytham Lights Up! The Festive Countdown Has Begun!
The magic of Christmas is officially set to begin in Lytham with the spectacular annual Christmas Lights Switch-On and Community Event! Get ready for an unforgettable afternoon and evening of community cheer, local talent, and dazzling lights.
A Day of Festive Family Fun
This much-loved event * (see image below) organised by the Lytham Business Partnership and a dedicated team of volunteers, promises something for everyone. From early afternoon, the town centre transforms into a festive playground:
- Street Entertainment: As Clifton Street closes to traffic, visitors will be treated to a wonderful array of mini-events, including choirs, street performers, fire-eaters, and stilt walkers, creating a carnival atmosphere throughout the town.
- Showcasing Local Talent: The main stage in Clifton Square is the hub of the action, hosting a non-stop programme of local groups and performers. Prepare to be entertained by a fantastic line-up of singers, musicians, dance schools, and performing arts groups that truly highlight the incredible talent within the Fylde Coast community.
The Main Event: Parade and Switch-On

- ‘Light Up Lytham’ Lantern Parade: At dusk, a magnificent Lantern Parade led by Father Christmas, the RNLI, and special guests will process from St Peter’s Church down to Clifton Square. Locals are encouraged to create their own lanterns to take part in this beautiful community procession!
- The Big Switch-On: The moment everyone is waiting for! The parade will be met by a brass band in the Square, leading up to the official countdown and the spectacular moment the town and Christmas trees are illuminated.
The party doesn’t stop once the lights are on. Entertainment will continue in Clifton Square, featuring an impressive line-up of local bands and artists, keeping the festive spirit going
This event is a testament to Lytham’s vibrant community spirit and is completely free to attend. It’s the perfect way to kick off the holiday season while supporting the charming independent shops, cafes, and bars Lytham has to offer.
