Leading the 80s contingent is the wonderfully distinctive Toyah, whose unmistakable voice, colourful style and seemingly endless energy helped make her one of the decade’s most memorable performers.

She’ll be joined by Chesney Hawkes, forever associated with one of the greatest feel-good pop anthems of the early 90s. Let’s be honest, the opening bars of The One and Only are likely to have the entire Lytham Hall lawn singing before Chesney has even reached the chorus.

Representing the Britpop era are Dodgy, the band behind sunshine-filled favourites including Good Enough and Staying Out for the Summer. Hopefully the weather will take the hint from that last one—we can but dream!

Also appearing will be The Redfearn Sisters and Kyle Passmore, adding even more live entertainment to the evening.

Which decade gets your vote?

The 80s gave us big hair, shoulder pads, synth-pop and songs that weren’t afraid of a dramatic key change. The 90s brought Britpop, boybands, dance anthems and fashions that many of us are still trying to explain.

Choosing between them may prove almost impossible—but thankfully, at Lytham Hall Proms, you don’t have to. You can enjoy the very best of both while quietly deciding which decade deserves the loudest cheer.

And what a setting for it. There’s something rather special about live music in the grounds of historic Lytham Hall as daylight fades, the stage lights begin to glow and the whole crowd joins in with a song they haven’t heard for years—but somehow still knows every single word.

Whether you were dancing around your bedroom with a hairbrush microphone in the 80s, embracing Britpop in the 90s, or simply love a cracking evening of live music, this promises to be a fantastic start to Lytham Hall Proms Weekend.
