Lytham 1940’s (Wartime) Weekend – Saturday 15th August

15 August @ 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM

The entertainment marquee situated on Lytham Green has two days of free entertainment from 10am to 5pm each day. The line up features Derek Herbert  Winston Churchill’s rousing wartime speeches, Colin Bourdiec with the music of both ENSA and Lancashire’s George Formby who lived close by to Lytham, there’s Johnny Victory and making their Lytham return for their third full weekend appearance the Bluebirds UK and Lancashire Belle (Saturday only).  Making her Lytham debut will be Helen Farrell.  There will be a licensed forties bar in the main marquee.

Highlights Include:
– Live music and dance performances throughout the weekend
– Military and civilian vehicle displays
– 1940s fashion shows and best-dressed competitions
– Vintage market and trade stalls
– Traditional tea dances
– Children’s entertainment and activities
– Historical re-enactments and living history displays

What’s More, it’s Free Entry – All welcome!
Pleased as again this year,  it’s all inclusive with  Carol and Tony from sponsors Co Sign on both days.  They offer up BSL (British Sign Language) on the main stage and this has become a popular and welcome addition to the event.  (Please note they will not be appearing in the evenings – daytime only). There will also be military vehicles, music and dance on the Mussel Tanks adjacent to the Promenade with a resident forties DJ, plus dancing in Clifton Square too.
