14 August @ 11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
An exhibition of work by Richard Ansdell at the Fylde Gallery at Lytham Hall whatson lythamstannes

Ansdell’s Lytham Legacy: Savage Beauty Rediscovered. The Lytham St Annes Art Collection proudly presents “Ansdell’s Lytham Legacy: Savage Beauty Rediscovered,” a thoughtfully selected exhibition celebrating the powerful artistry of Richard Ansdell (1815 – 1885).

This special showing highlights Ansdell’s deep connection to the region – the Liverpool-born artist, who spent much of his life in London, cherished Lytham St Annes, even establishing a summer home in the area now known in his honour.

Often compared to Landseer, Ansdell’s artistic vision embraced dramatic hunting scenes and the stark allure of untamed landscapes. This exhibition offers a fresh look at his oeuvre, featuring previously unseen paintings alongside his acclaimed works.

Hosted by the significant Lytham St Annes Art Collection, a testament to public generosity and home to works by masters like Fuseli and Barber alongside esteemed local talents, this is a unique chance to experience Ansdell’s savage beauty through the lens of his local affinity.

At the newly created Fylde Gallery, a first floor exhibition space at Lytham Hall. Donations welcome which will be reinvested into the upkeep of the Collection

Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
