SUMMARY:What's On at the Theatre this week
DESCRIPTION:Within the beautiful surroundings of Lowther Gardens in Lytham St Annes\, Lowther Pavilion Theatre has proudly served the Fylde Coast and surrounding communities as a vibrant cultural hub since opening in 1921. For over a century\, it has been a place where people come together to enjoy\, participate in\, and celebrate the arts. \nOver the years\, the Pavilion has welcomed national and international stars from across a wide range of genres\, alongside an ever-evolving programme of performances and events. Today\, audiences can enjoy everything from serious plays and comedy to musicals\, amateur dramatics\, theatre school productions\, and showcase performances. The programme also includes touring companies and artists as well as screenings and streamed productions of popular National Theatre titles\, bringing world-class performances to local audiences. \nEach year\, the venue hosts more than 480 shows and events\, attracting over 95\,000 visitors. From large-scale productions to intimate performances\, there is something for everyone to experience and enjoy. \nA New Chapter\nIn April 2025\, an exciting new chapter began with the opening of our second venue: The Windmill Performance & Education Centre. This £3 million development has expanded our ability to support both performance and participation in the arts. \nThe Windmill is home to The Lions Community Space and The Chapman Studio — a flexible second auditorium with capacity for 162 seated or 350 standing. This new space allows us to broaden our programme and provide greater opportunities for community-led projects\, emerging talent\, and creative learning. \nMore than just an extension\, The Windmill reflects our commitment to nurturing creativity\, supporting local voices\, and ensuring the arts remain accessible to all. \nMore Than a Theatre\nBeyond the stage\, Lowther Pavilion is also at the heart of a lively calendar of events and festivals. Throughout the year\, we host regular festival weekends\, including the popular Ice Cream Festival\, as well as themed seasonal events such as Easter\, Halloween and Christmas celebrations around the Gardens. \nWe are also proud to present an International Film Festival\, further enriching our programme and offering audiences even more ways to engage with the arts.

SUMMARY:Outdoor Theatre Season 2026
DESCRIPTION:Outdoor Theatre Season at Lytham Hall \nThe 2026  programme promises another magical summer of open-air entertainment\, where world-class theatre meets one of Lancashire’s most beautiful historic settings. \nSet against the stunning backdrop of the Georgian Hall and its picturesque parkland\, audiences are invited to pack a picnic\, bring a blanket or folding chair\, and settle in for an unforgettable evening beneath the open sky. Free parking\, refreshments and a licensed bar complete the experience. \nThe 2026 programme could be one of the strongest yet\, featuring a mix of Shakespearean classics\, literary favourites\, swashbuckling adventure\, musical comedy and family entertainment: \n\nA Midsummer Night’s Dream (16–21 June) – A special promenade production where the audience follows the action through six beautiful locations around the parkland\, opening the Hall’s 17th outdoor theatre season.\nPickwick Papers (10 July) – Rain or Shine Theatre brings Charles Dickens’ colourful and comic masterpiece to life.\nRomeo & Juliet (17 July) – The acclaimed Duke’s Theatre Company returns with Shakespeare’ timeless tragedy of love and rivalry\nThe Three Musketeers (7 August) – Illyria Theatre delivers Alexandre Dumas’ classic adventure packed with sword fights\, humour and romance.\nThe Pirates of Penzance (9 August) – Gilbert and Sullivan’s much-loved comic opera performed with Illyria’s trademark wit and exceptional musicianship.\nPinocchio (16 August) – A delightful family production full of fun\, imagination and heart\, with reserved seating at the front for younger audience members.\nMore than simply watching a play\, an evening at Lytham Hall is about soaking up the atmosphere. As the sun sets across the historic grounds and performers take to the stage\, the Hall becomes one of the North West’s most enchanting theatres. It’s a uniquely British summer tradition—combining heritage\, live performance\, picnics and fresh air—and one that continues to delight audiences year after year.

SUMMARY:LSA Shanty Crew Open Rehearsals 2026 - Lytham Mussel Tanks & St Annes Boathouse
DESCRIPTION:Upcoming Events in Lytham St Annes\nEvery Monday from May to August inclusive – 7:30pm to 8:30 / 8:45pm but please note – all performances are subject to weather and lifeboat operations.\n\n\nPlanned for every Monday throughout summer for live shanties and sea songs\, alternating between the St Annes RNLI Boathouse (behind St Annes pool) and the Mussel Tanks (near the RNLI Boathouse in Lytham.\n\n\nBring a chair (and blanket). Bring your voice. Bring fish and chips!\n\n\nPlease bring cash or card to support your local RNLI.\n\n\n\nIf rain is likely: They will still perform\, although in Lytham it’ll be round the corner from the Mussel Tanks at the lifeboat house. In Lytham or St Annes\, you’ll still be outside so bring a brolly!\n\n\nCar parking: At St Annes and Lytham there are large car parks just a few yards away from where we’re performing. At time of writing\, both are free after 6pm*. Please don’t park in the lifeboat house parking bays. Thanks.\n\n\n*But please check when you park\, in case things change!\n\n\nWhat if there is a shout? A ‘shout’ is an RNLI callout. As they perform at working lifeboat stations\, a shout will mean they will have to stop the show. It doesn’t happen often\, but it does happen! If it happens\, don’t worry\, we’ll tell you what to do.\n\n\n\n\nDisclaimer \nI pull event info from across local social media and websites—basically herding cats across the internet. Most of the time it’s accurate. Occasionally\, however\, dates shift\, venues change plans\, or events vanish into the ether. If I make a mistake\, it’s not sabotage—it’s the chaos of live events being… live. So before you do your hair\, book a babysitter\, or pre-celebrate\, please double-check the details directly with the venue or organiser. Trust\, but verify

Let’s be honest\, the opening bars of The One and Only are likely to have the entire Lytham Hall lawn singing before Chesney has even reached the chorus. \nRepresenting the Britpop era are Dodgy\, the band behind sunshine-filled favourites including Good Enough and Staying Out for the Summer. Hopefully the weather will take the hint from that last one—we can but dream! \nAlso appearing will be The Redfearn Sisters and Kyle Passmore\, adding even more live entertainment to the evening. \nWhich decade gets your vote?\nThe 80s gave us big hair\, shoulder pads\, synth-pop and songs that weren’t afraid of a dramatic key change. The 90s brought Britpop\, boybands\, dance anthems and fashions that many of us are still trying to explain. \nChoosing between them may prove almost impossible—but thankfully\, at Lytham Hall Proms\, you don’t have to. You can enjoy the very best of both while quietly deciding which decade deserves the loudest cheer. \nAnd what a setting for it. There’s something rather special about live music in the grounds of historic Lytham Hall as daylight fades\, the stage lights begin to glow and the whole crowd joins in with a song they haven’t heard for years—but somehow still knows every single word. \nTime to relive your musical youth\nWhether you were dancing around your bedroom with a hairbrush microphone in the 80s\, embracing Britpop in the 90s\, or simply love a cracking evening of live music\, this promises to be a fantastic start to Lytham Hall Proms Weekend. \nExpect nostalgia\, atmosphere\, some gloriously questionable dancing and thousands of people suddenly remembering lyrics they thought they had forgotten. \nLytham Hall Proms: 80s versus 90s Concert\nSaturday 29 August 2026\nFeaturing Toyah\, Chesney Hawkes and Dodgy\nAlso starring The Redfearn Sisters and Kyle Passmore \nSo\, are you Team 80s or Team 90s? We suspect that by the end of the night\, you’ll be very happily supporting both. \nTickets and further details are available at seaty.co.uk/lythamproms.As always\, please check the official booking information before travelling\, as event details can occasionally change. \nStandard Tickets £31 \nor treat yourself \n\nVIP Hospitality Ticket – Saturday \n\n£100.70\nIncludes: – Champagne Afternoon Tea in the Upper West Wing – Reserved Chair in the VIP Area Tables seat 10. If your party is less than 10\, you will be seated with others.

SUMMARY:Lytham Hall 'Proms' Weekend / Sunday Concert
DESCRIPTION:Lytham Hall Proms Weekend 2026\nA Classical Finale for Day Two of Lytham Hall Proms Weekend 2026\nFollowing Saturday’s colourful journey through the 80s and 90s\, Day Two of Lytham Hall Proms Weekend changes the tempo for an afternoon of beautiful voices\, stirring harmonies and plenty of traditional Proms atmosphere. \nTaking place on Sunday 30 August 2026\, the second concert will be headlined by Welsh singer and broadcaster Aled Jones. With more than four decades in the spotlight\, performances at some of the world’s most prestigious venues and over ten million album sales\, he should feel perfectly at home performing against the rather magnificent backdrop of Lytham Hall. \nAnd yes\, many of us may still immediately think of Walking in the Air. It’s impossible not to—but his career has travelled considerably further than one snowy animated flight! \nA wonderfully varied afternoon of music\nJoining Aled will be rising Lancashire pop-country singer Amy Jo\, bringing a more contemporary country sound to the Proms stage. \nThere will also be fabulous vintage-style harmonies from The Bluebirds. This talented retro vocal trio brings together the glamour and musical style of a bygone era\, making them a particularly good match for the elegant surroundings of the Hall. \nThe programme also features Jess Camilleri and Verity Walker\, together with a special Tribute to the Nations from Tom Collins. \nBringing the entire weekend to a suitably grand conclusion will be the award-winning mezzo-soprano Danielle Louise Thomas\, often described as the Voice of Liverpool. Having performed at royal occasions and appeared on the BBC\, Danielle will provide the all-important Proms finale—with soaring vocals\, patriotic favourites and\, we suspect\, more than a few flags being waved enthusiastically across the lawn. \nThe afternoon will once again be hosted by popular BBC Radio Lancashire presenter Graham Liver\, who can always be relied upon to keep proceedings moving with warmth\, wit and just the right amount of Lancashire humour. \nPicnics\, music and a rather impressive backdrop\nThe stage will be positioned in front of Lytham Hall\, facing the huge east lawn and creating a spectacular historic setting for the performances. \nTicket holders can enter the grounds from 1pm\, giving everyone time to claim a spot and arrange their picnic before the music begins at 3pm. The concert is expected to finish at approximately 7.30pm\, allowing the audience to leave the parkland before darkness falls. \nVisitors are encouraged to bring their own food\, drinks\, picnic blankets\, folding chairs and one small folding table. Strawberries and something sparkling would certainly fit the occasion nicely\, although sandwiches\, sausage rolls and a flask of tea will be treated with equal respect. \nJust remember that umbrellas and gazebos are not permitted\, as they could block the view of those sitting behind. This is Lancashire\, however\, so dressing for every possible season remains a sensible approach. \nA fitting finale to Proms Weekend\nWhile Saturday is all about pop\, rock and musical nostalgia\, Sunday promises something more traditional—but certainly no less entertaining. \nWith classical favourites\, pop-country\, vintage harmonies and a full Proms-style finale\, it should be a wonderfully relaxed afternoon for families\, friends and music lovers of all ages. \nThere’s also something rather special about spreading out a picnic in Lytham Hall’s historic parkland\, listening to live music and watching the Hall provide one of the finest stage backdrops on the Fylde Coast. Even the most determinedly unpatriotic visitor may find themselves waving a flag before the final note. \nLytham Hall Proms Weekend—Day Two\nSunday 30 August 2026\nGates open for picnics at 1pm\nConcert from 3pm until approximately 7.30pm \nFeaturing Aled Jones\, Amy Jo\, Danielle Louise Thomas\, The Bluebirds\, Tom Collins\, Jess Camilleri and Verity Walker\, hosted by Graham Liver. \nThe event is also an important cultural fundraiser for Lytham Hall\, so every ticket helps support this wonderful local landmark. \nTickets and further information are available through the ticket link below. Please check the latest event information before travelling\, as arrangements can occasionally change. \n\n\n\n\n\nAdult Ticket – Sunday £31.75 Child Ticket – Sunday £21.20 \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nor treat yourself\nVIP Hospitality Ticket – Sunday £100.70 \n\n\n\nIncludes: – Champagne Afternoon Tea in the Upper West Wing – Reserved Chair in the VIP Area Tables seat 10. If your party is less than 10\, you will be seated with others.
