SUMMARY:What's On at the Theatre this week
DESCRIPTION:Within the beautiful surroundings of Lowther Gardens in Lytham St Annes\, Lowther Pavilion Theatre has proudly served the Fylde Coast and surrounding communities as a vibrant cultural hub since opening in 1921. For over a century\, it has been a place where people come together to enjoy\, participate in\, and celebrate the arts. \nOver the years\, the Pavilion has welcomed national and international stars from across a wide range of genres\, alongside an ever-evolving programme of performances and events. Today\, audiences can enjoy everything from serious plays and comedy to musicals\, amateur dramatics\, theatre school productions\, and showcase performances. The programme also includes touring companies and artists as well as screenings and streamed productions of popular National Theatre titles\, bringing world-class performances to local audiences. \nEach year\, the venue hosts more than 480 shows and events\, attracting over 95\,000 visitors. From large-scale productions to intimate performances\, there is something for everyone to experience and enjoy. \nA New Chapter\nIn April 2025\, an exciting new chapter began with the opening of our second venue: The Windmill Performance & Education Centre. This £3 million development has expanded our ability to support both performance and participation in the arts. \nThe Windmill is home to The Lions Community Space and The Chapman Studio — a flexible second auditorium with capacity for 162 seated or 350 standing. This new space allows us to broaden our programme and provide greater opportunities for community-led projects\, emerging talent\, and creative learning. \nMore than just an extension\, The Windmill reflects our commitment to nurturing creativity\, supporting local voices\, and ensuring the arts remain accessible to all. \nMore Than a Theatre\nBeyond the stage\, Lowther Pavilion is also at the heart of a lively calendar of events and festivals. Throughout the year\, we host regular festival weekends\, including the popular Ice Cream Festival\, as well as themed seasonal events such as Easter\, Halloween and Christmas celebrations around the Gardens. \nWe are also proud to present an International Film Festival\, further enriching our programme and offering audiences even more ways to engage with the arts.

SUMMARY:LSA Classic Association Lecture
DESCRIPTION:From the LSA Classical Association website  \nThe Lytham St Annes Classical Association\, the UK’s largest branch of the Classical Association. They organise monthly lectures\, from September to April\, exploring the history\, art\, culture\, language and literature of ancient Rome and Greece. Membership\, costing just £12 a year and £5 for students\, gives you free admission to the seven lectures as well as other annual events. You can find out more about joining them here. \nLectures are held at AKS Lytham\, Clifton Drive South\, FY8 1DT on Thursday evenings. Doors open at 6.15pm for refreshments and a chance to meet the lecturer\, and talks begin at 7pm.  After a short question and answer session\, meetings normally finish by 8:30pm. They are a really friendly branch and can always guarantee visitors a warm welcome\, a great lecture and some lovely homemade cake! \nThere are two published lectures\, with more to come \n12 March 2026 \n“Stories of the Gods: the Epics of Byzantium” \nProfessor Tim Whitmarsh\, University of Cambridge \n16 April 2026 \n“Rome\, Monarchs and Monuments” \nDr Paul Roberts OBE \n  \n  \nDisclaimer \nI pull event info from across local social media and websites—basically herding cats across the internet. Most of the time it’s accurate. Occasionally\, however\, dates shift\, venues change plans\, or events vanish into the ether. If I make a mistake\, it’s not sabotage—it’s the chaos of live events being… live. So before you do your hair\, book a babysitter\, or pre-celebrate\, please double-check the details directly with the venue or organiser. Trust\, but verify

SUMMARY:Green(er) Living Event
DESCRIPTION:Making your home greener isn’t just a trend—it’s a practical way to improve your quality of life while reducing your impact on the environment. Small\, thoughtful changes can lead to meaningful benefits for both your household and the planet. \nOne of the biggest advantages is energy efficiency. Simple upgrades like LED lighting\, better insulation\, and energy-efficient appliances reduce the amount of electricity you use. This not only lowers your carbon footprint but also cuts down on utility bills\, saving money over time. \nA greener home also promotes better health and wellbeing. Using non-toxic cleaning products\, improving ventilation\, and adding indoor plants can enhance air quality. Cleaner air reduces allergens and pollutants\, creating a more comfortable and healthier living space. \nThere are also long-term financial benefits. While some eco-friendly improvements require an upfront investment\, they often pay for themselves through reduced energy and water costs. In many cases\, sustainable homes can even increase property value\, making them more attractive to future buyers. \nFinally\, making your home greener contributes to a more sustainable future. By conserving energy\, reducing waste\, and using resources responsibly\, you play a part in protecting natural ecosystems and reducing environmental damage. \nIn short\, going green at home is a smart choice—it’s cost-effective\, healthier\, and helps ensure a better future for everyone. \nMaking your home greener isn’t just a trend—it’s a practical way to improve your quality of life while reducing your impact on the environment.
