There is a positive tidal wave of Face Book pages popping up all over the place, which in my mind is complete overkill (well I would say that wouldn’t I)

But SOME are worthwhile, like the recent ‘Fylde Pubs’, to help you find like minded people and promote local pubs, who in the face of adversity seem to be holding their own! There are even new ones opening up!

It’s great we have an area that has something for everyone, gastro-pubs, fun pubs, cocktail & wine bars….. but if it’s a real traditional pub with real ale, that are your passion, and if you are less worried about the decor or the food offerings, than what they are serving then LIKE & FOLLOW the page, (link below) and get your friends, family & beer buddies to do the same. Here’s hoping you can share experiences & recommendations too.

Fylde pubs

I spoke to Harry Fenton who set up the page

I set up my Facebook page a few months back to promote all the local real ale pubs through posting reviews and photos while also sharing posts from their facebook pages too.

I did this because I’ve noticed how pubs throughout the country are closing down and being someone who loves to have real ale in the pub, I don’t want our local pubs to go the same way so I thought to myself, why not use social media to help safeguard the future of our local pubs, and promote my experiences.

Not only do pubs provide a meeting place for people in the local community, they also support jobs throughout the Fylde and they are an important part of our local heritage as much as our churches and windmills are, especially as many generations of the same families have frequented the same pubs.

The best way to recognise this is to revive interest in our pubs among residents as well as promote them collectively to visitors from further afield. Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre CAMRA.

Say there are around 150 pubs on the Fylde, there is much to celebrate and you are spoilt for choice when it comes to good quality real ale in Lytham St Annes.

So far, the response has been great with over 300 likes in the few months it has been going but I’m still hoping to gain many more followers so that my page can make a difference for the better so please share the page with your friends and family, regardless of where they live. “

Thank you Harry Fenton
